MEDIA RELEASE                                                               Friday, January 19, 2018

$75,000 OTF Grant Created Pride Understanding Videos

London ON On Friday, January 19, 2018 at Aeolian Hall, 795 Dundas St, Pride London Festival will welcome members of the community to the launch of three Pride Understanding videos at 1:00 pm followed by a reception. Local MPPs, MPS and OTF Grant Review Team member Linda Lustins will be on hand to congratulate Pride London Festival on the video launch.
“These videos are wonderful resources that everyone in our community can use to better understand LGBTQ issues and positively support children and youth who are facing barriers,” said Deb Matthews, MPP for London North Centre. “I’m so pleased our government could support this project and Pride London through the Ontario Trillium Foundation.”
"The impact of this Ontario Trillium Foundation grant will have a huge positive impact on the LGBT2Q communities and their allies,” said Andrew Rosser, President of Pride London Festival. “This grant allowed Pride London to form a partnership with M.I. understanding who created the Pride Understanding videos which will give children and their parents tools and resources needed when dealing with LGBT2Q issues.”
Paula Jesty, Executive Producer, M.I. understanding states, “The goal of these videos is to start a conversation. We remind the audience that questions are good, especially if it helps you understand someone better; that everyone is different, and that’s what makes life so interesting; and that having the courage to be your true self is a really good quality to have.”
Pride London Festival is a volunteer non-profit organization that works to organize opportunities to bring together the LGBT+ communities and their allies, through events and activities, which promote unity, inclusion and awareness of sexual and gender diversity.
An agency of the Government of Ontario, the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is one of Canada’s largest granting foundations. With a budget of over $136 million, OTF awards grants to some 1,000 projects every year to build healthy and vibrant Ontario communities.
