More about the performers...
In the past few years this young comedian has really begun making an impact on the Canadian Comedy scene. Rising through the ranks of the comedy clubs, Michelle has gone on to become a comic in demand. She’s landed television appearances on The Comedy Network, W Network, Bite TV, CBC, iChannel, and MTV.
Not only has she appeared on television she can also be heard in regular rotation on XM Satellite radio. Michelle has also attracted the eyes of a few festivals in the recent years. She’s performed in the Sudbury Comedy Festival, Moncton Comedy Festival, Global Vancouver Comedy Festival, and both CBC’s Winnipeg Comedy Fest and Halifax Comedy Fest, taped for television. Enjoyed by audiences and critics alike, Michelle Shaughnessy is the perfect choice for any event.
Called ‘a revelation’ by UK’s The Independent and heralded as ‘fantastically intelligent’ by the Globe and Mail, Heidi is a two-time Canadian Comedy Award nominee for Best Female Stand-Up in Canada and has combined her background in theatre with her unusually sardonic perception of everyday life to become a standout presence on the North American comedy scene. Her dry, deadpan delivery has earned her three televised galas as a part of the Montreal International Just for Laughs Festival, as well as numerous appearances on CBC radio, television, and on CTV’s Comedy Now!. In addition to screenwriting, story editing and series development for shows on HBO, FOX, PBS, FAMILY and YTV, Heidi won a Canadian Comedy Award for being part of the staff writing team on CBC’s hit series This Hour Has 22 Minutes and won a CBC deal to development her own original television series at the 2007 Just for Laughs “Just For Pitching” event.
Fast thinking and quick witted and gayer than a picnic basket bought with a three dollar bill, Richard Ryder takes the stage with a refreshing energy and “no holds barred” attitude that audiences welcome again and again. No topic is too taboo for this Toronto native whose comedy is fresh, fast, funny and a constant source of embarrassment to his family. Which is exactly how it should be.
Heard daily on 103.9 PROUD FM's afternoon show, Riding Home with Richard Ryder and seen weekly across Canada on OUTtv, Richard's Comedy Now on The Comedy Network is one of the most popularly replayed episodes to date. Richard's brilliantly eclectic humour has also been featured on NBC's Last Comic Standing, CBC Radio 1's Accent On Toronto, Q107 where he won their Funniest Person With A Day Job, as well as on projects like Undercover Brother, The Scream Team, It Takes Two and Zoe Busiek Wild Card. As if this weren't enough, Richard can also be seen live, working the comedy circuit throughout Canada and the States. All kidding aside, experience him live. He's a hoot!
