Rainbow Leadership Award for Youth
The Rainbow Leadership Award for Youth honours an area high school student for accomplishments and contributions he or she has made to the community, whether this is at home, school, religious institution, athletic or academic team, or another social group.
Candidates must be on track to graduate in the 2012/13 academic year, balance being a student and a leader while demonstrating a commitment or significant contribution to developing tolerance and acceptance of London and the surrounding area’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and two-spirited people, their supporters, or any community group represented under the diverse Rainbow banner.
Consideration will be given to academic performance and personal or financial hardship. Nominations are being accepted on behalf of youth living within the regions of the Thames Valley District School Board; London District Catholic School Board, Conseil scolaire Viamonde, Conseil scolaire de district des écoles catholiques du Sud-Ouest, including other area educational institutions and youth organizations.
The recipient will receive a certificate accompanied by a monetary payment towards his/her tuition at a Canadian postsecondary educational institution. The award will be presented as part of Pride London 2012 festivities.
